It began with an AI-native development environment.
Codira started with an ambitious objective: rethink how software is built in an era of increasingly capable artificial intelligence. The result was Codira IDE, a desktop environment where AI works on real projects alongside engineers.
Building it meant facing problems that had little to do with generating code, and everything to do with whether that code could be trusted.

The hard problems were beyond code generation.
How should a complex objective be decomposed? How should specialist agents collaborate, how should changes be reviewed, and how should requirements be enforced while developers stay in control of an increasingly automated process?
Answering those questions well produced something larger than a feature: a broader architecture for orchestrating AI, checking its work with rules in code, and keeping people in charge of consequential decisions.

The same principles applied far beyond programming.
As the architecture matured, it became clear that its principles were not specific to software. Legal professionals coordinate evidence, research, documents, deadlines and strategy. Communications teams manage information, editorial processes, approvals and publication.
Those professions work to different standards, but each depends on complex information, specialized responsibilities, structured workflows and human accountability, exactly the conditions the architecture was built for.

Codira became a multi-product company.
That recognition turned Codira from the developer of a single application into a research and development company. Codira PR, formerly Uplevll, serves public relations and corporate communications. Codira ESQ, formerly DocketIQ, serves legal teams. Each is built on the same principles, with its profession's own knowledge and safeguards.
Today Codira advances its proprietary technology while bringing it to market through specialized applications, connecting foundational invention with practical implementation.
The story is still being written: research continues, and so does the portfolio.
